No more freebies! Charging what I’m worth

If you’re not charging for your services and doing them at little to no cost simply they won’t appreciate or value them, the last 12 months have proven that to me twice and I’ve decided enough is enough!  Before we continue, this is my blog, my raw, unfiltered thoughts, just a warning I can get a lil moody in this post
For those of you that friend me on Facebook you might have seen this lil post
This year I’m going to be slightly more ruthless and charge what I’m worth. For too long i’ve done things at/below cost or in many instances free and it ends up crappy for me but that ends now. As horrible as it sounds theres no point in me getting stressed / overworked for someone else to benefit.

Yes, there is background to that post, the detail is not important yes I was angry with the people involved, I still am to an extent there where circumstances that where not taken into account but hey we live and learn and I can now say to them It’s not my Problem

“I was angry with my friend:
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:
I told it not, my wrath did grow.”
― William Blake

But recent events have triggered me to re-evaluate a lot of things those of you that know me well understand I like to help, I like to apply my skill sets to problems and provide solutions this is something I have done for friends and their businesses for a little while.  The problem with this is I’ve been doing it at the sacrifice of my own projects whilst at the same time overworking myself and getting stressed when I really should have.

After this most recent episode I finally snapped, I decided I’ve had enough of been treated like crap particularly when just the day before things where going swimmingly.  I had spent countless hours working on improving things for them, making solutions and developing proposed solutions and presentations just to have it all thrown out over one stupid comment made during a very emotional personal time.

So this year, I’m committed to taking a new approach, this year I’m charging what I’m worth, I’m not doing things cheaply or for free any longer and in the last couple of weeks I’ve been working in my time outside of my job to make that happen. I’m pleased to finally have one of the biggest parts of this live and that’s the new and refreshed Voltserve Solutions

Voltserve & BlueGlobe have previously been more not so serious hobbies that I never really invested much time in but with everything that’s happened I’ve made the decision to focus my efforts on two things WWWH (my daytime job) and making Voltserve Solutions a success. Volt is going to focus on offering advise and implementation assistance for cloud based apps such as Xero, Vend, Timely, Unleashed & Office 365 whilst at the same time offer a wide range of PC Parts, Peripherals and Software there’s plans to add a few more things to the mix such as Managed IT Service.

So here’s to charging what I’m worth and focusing on me oh and 2014

I’ve been brought down to my knees
And I’ve been pushed way past the point of breaking,
But I can take it.
I’ll be back –
Back on my feet
This is far from over
You haven’t seen the last of me.
You haven’t seen the last of me.
